About Intake 2001
The first lot of the 21st century to join the Brigade of Gurkhas, Intake 2001 marked the continuity of Gurkha recruiting in the British Army beyond the millennium. Having shared the sheer hardship and arduous 9 months of collective training, everyone took their own journey into various military Regiments and Units following their calling dreams. Shaping their future rather successfully some are still happily serving in the BG offering remarkable contributions to the growing Gurkha footprints whereas some are pursuing successful careers in the wider Army through transfers, whilst others have chosen to leave this path living equally fulfilling lives in the civi street. Two decades have flown by, ever since 230 members of the intake took the solemn promise to serve the British Crown on 19 January 2001 in Pokhara.
Brigade of Gurkhas has come a long way over these 2 decades and the members of the intake have seen some meaningful changes in Terms and Condition of Service (TACOS) along the way but what has remained intact is the camaraderie, brotherhood, and the esprit de corps amongst the numbari community. The deep sense of togetherness, mutual support, and being there for one another truly define what intake 2001 is and who its members are. This forum welcomes every member of the intake and offers to share their thoughts and ideas for the greater good of the 2001 intake fraternity. We remember our late numbaries who are sadly no longer with us anymore and our thoughts and prayers are always with their loved ones. ‘Jai intake 2001’
